Flash Fiction: Fissure

Now the story continues…

I sprinted back towards the tent, shouting on top of my voice.

My frantic screaming combined with the increasingly powerful tremors coming from the fissure roused the other experts from their slumber. I turned to look back at Dr. Manheim who was still frozen in spot. He held his ground even as one ginormous hand appeared to his left. He did not budge as another one appeared on his right. Then came the giant’s head, with its two eyes trained on the doctor. Within a second only the lower part of the doctor’s body remained, the other half was inside the monster’s mouth.

  1. Oh my, poor doctor. In the US, we say “at the top” of my voice and “frozen in place.” Don’t know if we’re alone in that usage. And knowing me, Id add a few commas for clarity in this piece.

Very visual, very exciting! Great last sentence.
