      1. It’s what usually motivates the soldier, and has throughout history. Which is why the soldier who defends his land is stronger than the one who seeks to invade. Unless, of course, the invasion is to eradicate some moral abomination. But again, it’s done through fear it might reach the soldier’s family

      2. Though a few on greed. I’m thinking of English history, and 1066. William the bastard was a usurper, as historians are beginning to realise. He wanted England, cos England was rich.
