50 word thursday

Microfiction: Disturbed Zone

These are lonely roads that I ride on.

No vexing women and no malevolent men.

This is my zone, my place of tranquility.

A chance to get away from death.

But sometimes, it follows me, in the form of bandits.

At these times, I let my pistols do the talking…

The sirens howled.

By now, everyone in the room was used to the noise.

Everyone looked at the giant screen in front.

Six Sentence Story ‘Escape’

Flash Fiction: Pvt. Investigator

“What do you call yourself?” the Fawn said at last.

Such a soft sweet voice it had! From its looks I had expected it to sound gruffier. I responded confidently.

“A private investigator. The world’s best actually.”

“We don’t have any of those where I come from.”

“Pray tell me. What do you need my help with?”

The fawn looked to his hooves and shifted nervously in his seat.
“I’ve heard you are good at finding lost things.”

“That I am. Now, what have you lost?”

“Four children.”

“Very well. And you said you were from this place called ..Narnia..yes?”

Microfiction: Silent Observer

Don’t mind me, I’m just a silent observer.

I’ve nothing to say about what transpires in this city. No words about the charming face it dons during the day, nor about its ugly night-form. If you have a problem with this dichotomy, don’t look at me.

I’m a silent observer…

Microfiction: Run

It has been a huge change.

Earlier, I used to run behind animals,  on the hunt for flesh. Now, I run ahead of men, on the hunt for gold. However, what haven’t changed are the spectators.

They used to cheer for me back then, they cheer for me even now.

“Funny little thing, aren’t you?”

I looked up at the speaker. It was a frog. I sighed. Considering himself, he’s the last person who should be calling me that.
“So are you like the outcaste cousin of the black panther?”

He’s surely getting a earful.

Once, master sews-on my mouth…

Flash Fiction: Chase

Salam brought his camel to a halt.

He got down and closely observed the tracks. Ashfaq joined his friend in observing the tracks.

“It looks like the bastards split up.”

Salam nodded.

“That means we will have to split up too.”

Ashfaq toyed with his beard.

“That is true, but..”

Salam placed a hand on his friend’s shoulder.

“There are no buts here my friend. If you come across him, you have to kill him. He’s a traitor to our group and to our king.”

Ashfaq sighed.

“I know. May Allah help me, should my conviction falter or hand shiver…”

“No grandpa, tell me a story I have not heard, something new.”

“Well little one, this very street we are walking on, has a special story, a war time story – the story of Captain Pike…”
