Finish The Story Project 2

Finish The Story, or the FTS project, as I have grown to call it returns for the second season.

Once again, Tanmay Jain is helming this season. Introducing the participants and their prompts:

1. Ritu Bhathal
Ritu Bhathal was born in Birmingham in the mid-1970’s to
migrant parents, hailing from Kenya but with Indian origin.
This colourful background has been a constant source of
inspiration to her.
From childhood, she always enjoyed reading. This love of
books is mostly credited to her mother.
The joy of reading spurred her on to become creative in
her own writing, from fiction to poetry.
Winning little writing competitions at school and locally
gave her the encouragement to continue writing.
As a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and teacher, she has
drawn on inspiration from many avenues to create the
poems that she writes.

A qualified teacher, having studied at Kingston University,
she now deals with classes of children as a sideline to her
writing!
Ritu also writes a blog, a mixture of life and creativity,
thoughts and opinions, which was awarded first place in
the Best Overall Blog Category at the 2017 Annual
Bloggers Bash Awards.
Ritu is happily married, and living in Kent, with her Hubby
Dearest, and two children, not forgetting the furbaby
Sonu Singh.
Having published an anthology of poetry, Poetic RITUals,
she is currently working on some short stories, and a
novel, to be published in the near future.

FTS Project #4: Emperor’s Knights

The Emperor had summoned his Knights..and they had answered his summons. They knew that it was a matter of great importance. They waited patiently as their Emperor began to address them..

“Brave Knights, I have need of your skills yet again.”

The Knights traded glances. Their Emperor, the Great King had summoned them after a year. It had been a year of peace for the kingdom. The Knights had whiled away their time in wining, dining and other forms of entertainment. However, their warrior souls craved action, a chance to show off their power and might yet another time. Each knight present was excited at the prospect of a new battle. They spoke in unison.

“We are your eternal servants, Emperor. Command us. What is our mission?”

The king smiled weakly.

“The matter is urgent. The Queen has lost her favorite pearl necklace and nobody can find it. Your quest requires you to find it with haste.”

The Knights looked  at each other in disbelief, and shrugged their shoulders.

Such were the perils of peace…

FTS Project #3: Punished

I woke up with a severe hangover. I made my way to the bathroom lazily. I glanced at the mirror wondering if I looked as terrible as I felt. I stood staring in horror at the grotesque skull grinning at me… The sight of the skull made me freeze in my tracks. I stopped grinning at the mirror, and the skull stopped grinning back. I quickly touched my palms on my face, only to make contact with bones. I looked around in panic, and spotted her, leaning back on the wall of my washroom. She smiled at me in a sultry manner. “You don’t remember my name do you?” I tried to calm myself down and reply, but it was not working. “That’s fine. At least you remember the great time we had in bed, don’t you? That’s all I was supposed to be no? Like all those other girls you meet?” I tried to think back to yesterday. I could only remember meeting her at the club and having drinks with her. After that my memory went blank. “Poor darling. You probably remember nothing after that bit of chemical in your drink worked its magic.” I composed myself and got ready to grab her. She tsked and winked at me. “You did commit a sin, you know…The sin of lust. You had to be..” I charged at her, but she vanished in an instant, leaving only her voice behind in the air, “..PUNISHED!”

FTS Project #2: Believe Me

“Believe me officer, it wasn’t me.”

My pleading fell on deaf ears. My cellmate looked at me with amused eyes. I glared at him and punched the cell wall in frustration. I took deep breaths, composed myself and sat down on the cold stone floor, resting my back in the corner. My cellmate sat down in front of me.

“Come on, boy. You don’t expect anyone to believe your story do you?”

I offered him no reply.

“Frankly, I’ve seen loonies in my time in various jails, complete nut cases. Your story would crack them up as well.”

I sighed.

“I never should have told you.”

He laughed and placed a hand on my head.

“According to your story, you had placed your head on your mother’s lap. You were resting comfortably and you say you drifted off into a deep sleep. When you got up, you were still resting on your mothers lap, but the rest of her was not present. You could see blood everywhere around the house, and pieces of your mother scattered here and there.”

I kept my head down. That scene was etched in my mind. I could not forget it, and it did not let me sleep.

“Boy, you have no evidence. What do you expect the cops to do?”

I looked up with tears in my eyes.

“Believe me…”

Finish The Story Project: Introduction

Like great adventures of the old, a bunch of heroes have banded together to complete a certain quest. And this time it is not for the destruction of the one ring, or stopping the invading Chitauri, no. This time the heroes have set the goal of creating good reading content, to save their world through their writing.
