The road through nature, away from the big city held many surprises, but none greater than real peace of mind…

Visibility was almost zero.
That was all thanks to the misty road. It lived up to its name. It was my bright idea to come for a joy ride here. The intially clear road had become mist laden within minutes.
I could see nothing around me. I was hesitant to go any further and heading back was not an option on this mountain road. I decided to rely on the tail lights of the car in front of me. I could only be astonished at the confidence and skills of the person driving that car.
In some time, my engine began sputtering and my car came to a halt. Cursing my car, I slapped my steering wheel. To my surprise, the mist began clearing as fast as it had appeared. I gasped in shock as I realized my car stood right at the edge of a cliff. As I calmed myself down and reversed, I had only one question in mind.
Where had the other car gone?

Once Kings Rode Down This
Path. Now, Not Even Paupers
Walk Over This Road…

This ride turned out just as expected.
Only racers with guts of iron and balls of steel participate in this once-a-year race. Racing on a highway that exists only for two hours offers an adrenaline rush unlike any other. As the time passes, the highway begins getting covered by strong dust storms. That means death for those poor bastards who are too slow to outride the sand.
Now, it’s down to the last three of us. With the sand storm almost touching us, we cannot afford to slow down. Last five minutes left.
Time to see if the nitrous works…

Now the story continues:
Eric nodded. He did not quite understand how these things worked, just like his mother had said. However, he knew that little Tuesday would be safer with them. He blew a flying kiss to Tuesday, and ran off towards the village. He had to remove all the notices.
He returned in the evening. He knocked on the door. He heard his mother’s voice coming from inside.
“Password?”
“Mom, it’s me.”
“You know the password, Eric.”
Eric sighed. When he was a little kid, Eric had been fond of making makeshift tents inside the house. He would let his mom enter the tent only if she used a password he had made up. Eric spoke towards the door.
“Olopolo!”
Mother opened the door to let Eric inside. To his shock, Eric saw an assortment of weapons laid out on his dining table. Bows, knives, swords, axes, it was a complete arsenal. He looked at his mother with questioning eyes.
“Mother? What is all this?”
Mother placed her hands on Eric’s shoulders.
“Child, you should know. Tuesday is no ordinary baby. Men will come to take her away. Evil men. We need to keep her safe.”
“But, mom what about the oath you took? And what do you mean by Tuesday not being an ordinary baby.”
Mother ruffled Eric’s hair.
“See Eric,….”
