Flash Fiction: Borderlands

The borderlands grew wilder and wilder every year.

The country had been built upon the foundations of war and savagery. The reigning king came into power only because he was the strongest warrior. Impressed by his prowess, many borderland tribes had supported his conquest. However, now he had begun thinking like a ruler, rather than a warrior. He focussed more on administration than on warfare. The same tribes that had supported him, now openly opposed him. Their violence threatened to split the country.

The king would pick up his sword, again…

Flash Fiction: Homecoming

I could not digest the fact that it was all gone. My home was all gone.

The storm of the century, they called it. It came raging into our lives, and left only destruction behind. Thank God, I could get my family out in time. In these hard times, we will have to look toward each other for illumination.

It’s time to rebuild, and things will be back to normal in no time…

Flash Fiction: Captive

I found myself unable to break free from my bindings.

I heard as my captor walked towards me with slow steps, humming to himself. I needed to break free and escape. However, with my legs bound together and hands tied behind the back of the chair, escaping was easier said than done. I could not even see where I was. I shuddered as the man ran his fingers over my exposed neck and shoulders.

“Well baby doll, you sure look glamorous in that sexy dress.”

I struggled with the ropes as the man jiggled an object near my ears. The splashing sound indicated that it was filled.

“However, all that glitters is not gold. Ain’t that right, baby? You are all rotten from the inside.”

I screamed in agony as he poured the liquid over me. I could hear his laughter.

“Here’s some holy water, demon lady. This ought to deterge you. You do not belong here, go back to hell!”
