Flash Fiction: Studying Fishes

All I wanted to do was to get closer to the school of undiscovered fish I saw before me.

I was already at maximum safe distance from the vessel.

I had swum out quite far away from the other divers, who were trying to hail me on my communicator.

Ignoring the garbled message I was receiving, I held my arms out in full extension hoping the fishes would come towards me.

My idea worked and all the fishes started swimming towards me, just as I received the message clearly.

“Red alert. Red alert. Return to vessel. Fishes confirmed as man-eaters…”

Flash Fiction: Treasure Hunter

Ah! Here comes master, again.

He comes over to my bowl only on two occasions. First, when its my feeding time, and second, when he gets bored with his work. I guess he likes watching me swim around like an idiot. I bet it makes him feel superior, and all high and mighty. See, there he goes, tapping on the bowl, assuming that the tapping wakes me up. Oh yes! I need to play treasure hunter again. I fly into the ship, search for the treasure and come out, every single time.

I guess he still believes that a goldfish’s memory is quite short lived. After all, that is the popular public opinion, isn’t it?

Flash Fiction: Territory

As I move around, I see the little ones scurrying about. One look at me, and they start running helter skelter. And they should.

This is my territory. Every rock, every plant, is owned by me. If they choose to make their way here, they choose to give up their freedom and submit to my sovereignty. I am the king. Wait, I see a shadow looming over me. It is humongous, covering my entire territory. I guess it is time for me to exit these waters and head elsewhere.

After all, there is always a bigger fish out there.
